How do I remove unwanted folders from the vieo library

After copying some dvr-ms files from the media centre to a home server network share, VMC has added the destination folder on the network share to my video library.

The weird thing is the folder does not appear as a watched folder in the library setup so I can see no way to stop it from appearing. I have searched through the registry but have not found a reference there either.

Anybody know how I can stop the folder from appearing in the video libray?

Re: How do I remove unwanted folders from the vieo library

Its all to do with what Media Player has as watched folders as this is where vista picks them up from initially.

It is easier to open Media Player and look at the library setup there and remove what isnt needed. Make sure that in your settings for Media Player though that you DO NOT have the setting to delete files when deleting from the library.

That could be bad.

Do a search as there was a great post in this particular sub forum on this topic a while back.

back.
The folder is not listed as a watched folder in media player either.

Any other ideas?

Thanks for the suggestion anyway.

Re: How do I remove unwanted folders from the vieo library

it could be a shortcut of a folder in a watched folder

have a look at
[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\Curre ntVersion\Media Center\Settings\AutoScan]
"_arSeenImageDrives"="G:\\"
"_arSeenMusicDrives"="G:\\access 2003 introduction"
"_arSeenVideoDrives"="H:\\"
"_arSeenTVDrives"="<<NULL>>"
"_autoPlayMCLEnabled"=dword:00000000
"_highMATEnabled"=dword:00000001
"_shallowScanDepth"=dword:00000003

Media player has an option to automatically scan for folders containing media, disable it, its a horrible horrible setting for a HTPC.

It causes the root drives of my HDDs to be in the video browser, which is damn annoying

Or do what I did, and completely ditch the video portion of VMC. Replace it with plugins that actually do the job properly.

Where abouts can you enable/disable the option to automatically scan folders containing media?
