VMC not showing the movie name in the xlm file

Hi!

I am using Vista MC with Sony XL1B changer. The DVD Library will scan my DVDs, fine and I see the name of the disk in MC, but when I look at the associated xlm file in the DVDInfoCache folder, there's no title info. This makes it difficult for me to know which xml file is associated with which DVD. Furthermore, applications such as DVDID are useless as they rely on the xml file in the DVDInfoCache folder.

Note: all my DVDs are copies of the original.

Is there anything I can do make VMC create the right xml file with DVD title in it?

Here's how the xml file looks like:
<?xml version="1.0" ?>
- <METADATA xmlns:xsi="http://www.w3.org/2001/XMLSchema-instance" xmlns:xsd="http://www.w3.org/2001/XMLSchema">
- <MDR-DVD>
<MetadataExpires>0001-01-01T00:00:00</MetadataExpires>
<version>5.0</version>
</MDR-DVD>
<NeedsAttribution>false</NeedsAttribution>
<DvdId>f5945725|405f4c5f</DvdId>
</METADATA>

Apprecaite any help on this.

Thanks!

Welcome to the forum sunnyvali
1: You can go to this site: dvdxml.com
sign up then download xml files into the appropriate movie directorys.

2: Or goto this site and download this software: DVD Library Manager
DVD Library Manager allows you to edit the DVD information (meta data) used by DVD Library in Vista Media Center (VMC). It can download additional movie information from Amazon.com and IMDB.com.

I think option 2 is the better option to use.
I found when using the 2nd option, my DVD information would show instantly after a restarting of the computer. Wheras the first option needs to renew the info from the net.

Re: VMC not showing the movie name in the xlm file

I have tried your second suggestion and the results are the same. Since DVD Library Manager uses the data from xml files located in the DVDInfoCache folder, I don't see any names associated with the info displayed in DVD Library Manager.

For some reason, VMC displays whatever the DVD name is (what I called the DVD when I burned it), but does not use that as DVD title in the xml file. Just strange that VMC would not do so.

I'll keep exploring for the answers.

Thanks!
