Hey guys, there is a link posted here already, in the post about fiji. You will also notice a lot of chat about this release over at tgb, which is owned by microsoft and they have not deleted the link. I have just installed this latest version on my laptop and worked perfectly.(not a new install)

Ah Sweet! I must have missed it when I looked a while back, and hadnt found one around.
Now for a completely n00b question .. how do you install the *.msu file. I am on a XP PC at the moment so cant check, but is it just a double click deal or something else?

that is right. Simply double click on it. You do need to enable auto updayes for it to work though, then just disable them once installation is complete.
In all honesty, I wouldn't be installing TV Pack until the EPG providers have had time to update their software to be compatible. AFAIK, both IceTV and FreeEPG have yet to support to new XML structure of the guide.
Sure, the TV Pack has the ability to get data from the EIT stream, but in some cases it's absolutely useless or less accurate than what's available from third party providers.
Until the guide providers fully support it, I won't be installing.
I have been waiting on a response from freeepg for two weeks as to whether or not they can support it. I have now asked Jeff Tucker if it is possible. See how we go. I do find the data better than what was available from oztivo though, and I am sure a couple of shows have changed the information in the guide as they have run over time (probably immagining)
1. SBS only have now and next, so won't be able to schedule recordings on SBS.
2. Since each channel only broadcasts their guide on their frequency, in order for MCE to update the guide data, it must be tuned to that channel for a reasonable length of time.
3. Channel Nein use generic titling for sporting events and movies (i.e Wide World of Sports and Saturday Night at the Movies). For example - you will not be able to set up a series recording of the Rugby League because it's called Wide World of Sports - the same name they give swimming, cycling, curling etc etc.
4. From memory, you can't search EIT guide data, which means key word recordings are out (not 100% sure on this, someone might correct).
If the broadcasters did it right, it would be a good solution, unfortunately they can't. At best it could be used to supplement guide data from other sources.
i agree with most of what you are saying, and it only goes to show that more people need to be signing the myepg petition and sending letters to the people that can make the changes. Microsoft are now offering EIT support for Australia(which we always wanted) now we need to make the Networks provide the quality of data that makes it workable.
To that extent anyone who is yet to sign the petition it is at www.myepg.com.au sign it and use the templates provided to send letters.
