Vista 'windows sounds' level not sticky??

Sorry, it's a bit off topic, but every time I restart vista, the level control for 'windows sounds' is back to max.
Anyone else confirm this problem?

Re: Vista 'windows sounds' level not sticky??

Hoping someone can try this on their vista to see if the level remains set after a restart.
My only 'fix' atm is to disable all windows sounds including startup.

My volume remains what it is set at across startups, shutdowns, and reboots.

Hi Oz, thanks for that. Just to be sure, I'm referring to the level control that's for windows sounds only [in mixer], not the master level control.
Is that the one you checked?
My master level is sticky, but not windows sounds.

Re: Vista 'windows sounds' level not sticky??

Have discovered that if I disable 'windows startup sound' in control panel, the level remains as set. As soon as I re-enable windows startup sound the level jumps back to 100%!
Need to check this again, before installing realtek audio driver. Might be an issue with that.

Re: Vista 'windows sounds' level not sticky??

Nope. nothing to do with drivers, still does the same thing even on a bare bones install of vista32 sp1.
Also does the same thing on my laptop with pre-sp1 vista.

Here's another oddity, even if you set the slider to min and even mute it as well then close the mixer, then trigger a uac event like going to device manager, the uac alert sound will still play at full volume. But if you open the mixer and leave it open, the uac alert is now muted or at the volume level you set the slider to [if you didn't click 'mute']
Close the mixer ans uac alert is back to full volume!!
This is also the same on the laptop.
