Horizontal bars in fast moving scenes when watching HD channels in VMC

Hi Guys! My first post here and I really would like some help resolving an annoying issue whilst watching TV in Vista Media Center.

Recently, I purchased the Compro E900F dual digital TV Tuner card and have been very impressed with the image quality when using the Compro software.

As for Vista Media Center, it has also worked very well during the first couple of days after installing the card. However, recently, I've started to experience some image quality problems using MCE. When playing certain HD channels on Vista Media Center (especially 10HD, and to a lesser extent 7HD and 9HD), I get poor image quality with consistent horizontal bars or lines showing during fast-moving scenes OR a sudden change between scenes. This gets extremely annoying espeically when watching sport or fast-moving commercials. This problem does not occur if the image is relatively still and also does not occur on non-HD channels.

As I said earlier, have experienced no problems whatsoever when watching the HD channels using the provided Compro software, but I really would like to get Vista Media Center to work as flawlessly as the Compro software, so if anybody can help, I'll really appreciate it, as the problem has really been bugging me a lot.

I have attached some images to give you a clearer picture of what the image looks like.

Hi lukey08
Welcome to the forum.
Go into your advanced video card settings. And change the Video Deinterlacing setting to Bob.
If that doesn’t help try the other deinterlacing settings.

Welcome to the forum dipdip.
I can only explain where the ATI / AMD Video settings are, as I only have ATI on my system.
If your using NVIDIA another member can step in and help you out.

If your using ATI /AMD right click on your desktop.
Select catalyst control center.
Then select Advanced settings.

Then goto video settings.

Re: Horizontal bars in fast moving scenes when watching HD channels in VMC

Thanks so much for this solution, Bryce! This was driving me crazy until I googled the issue and found this great forum. I'm using an ATI HD 3650 and my 2nd monitor is a 32" Sharp Aquos HDTV and those horizontal bars were driving me crazy when using Vista's Media Centre and viewing my recorded DVR-MS HD videos. All is fine now.... Thanks again!
