Clean Vista Install will not go to sleep after a recording

Hi there

I have just reinstalled vista on my PC and the only thing I have done is installed the latest drivers and vista SP1.

Have installed free epg (also ran the guide corruption registry fixes)

Media center is now running as it should be, except for one thing. It will not go to sleep after a scheduled recording

I have experienced this problem with my previous install and had no luck, so I thought I would ask before i get in there and start fiddling with all the settings.

I guess my question is:

What should I do to make vista go to sleep after a scheduled recording (or guide update, i expect)?

Cheers

Phil

After dicking around with VMC sleep problems for ages I just installed MST - problem solved. Just be careful of the scheduled reboot, it completely locks up my system.

Try to get sleep & wakeup working properly without resorting to MST. MST should be a last resort only.

You may need to make sure things like your mouse can't wake the PC - go to Device Manager, locate your mouse and make sure that "Allow this device to wake the computer" (on the "Power Management" tab) is unchecked. This was causing me a problem for a while - the PC would go to sleep, to only immediately wake again.

Re: Clean Vista Install will not go to sleep after a recording

Ok so after setting the sleep options in the power management it will automatically sleep when inactive. Awesome... lets hope it stays like that (as things fell apart after a few weeks the last time I installed vista)

however I am still having other problems with the PC, but that is probably a question for another thread.

I will try updating the bios when i have some time to fiddle and hopefully that will help some things

cheers

phil

thanks for the help
