The return of black thumbnails

I had this prob a few months ago but sorted it - however it has returned again! In the 'video library' area, any new show i put in gets a black thumbnail instead of a shot from the show (auto generated bu vista normally). The problem happened after I put on three programmes (caonpus pro coder 3, sony vegas 8 and quicktime 7) though not sure which is at fault. Coudl any of these have changed thumbnails settings? And how can i get rid of black thumbnails!!

Cheers

Re: The return of black thumbnails

HTPConvert,

Sound like your problem is that another video codec is now doing the video decoding; chances are one of the 3 new programs.

I suggest you use graphedit to determine what codec is now being used for your AVI/DivX/Xvid ... etc.

Let us know if you need help with that utils.

Cheers,

Pete.

Re: The return of black thumbnails

Hi Peter Pan, thanks for the quick reply - I'm not sure how to use this graphedit thing - could you give me a brief run through?

I assume divx decoder was decoding my xvid stuff before - so what do I do if this is no longer the case?

Cheers
