ir keyboard/mouse keeps bringing up vmc

hi all
i have just built new media center pc eveything works fine tv tuner, my movies etc.
my problem is that if i minimize vmc and try and use the microsoft ir keyboard it keeps bringing up vmc again. this wouldnt be so bad as i could exit vmc and i could use keyboard for internet etc, but i added a pioneer bluray player and used power dvd with the plugin in vmc to play blu ray discs and when i try to use microsoft remote to pause/play stop movie any key also takes me back to vmc. as a result i have to use mouse to control media functions in power dvd. the same thing happens with arcsoft total media theater.
anyone have any ideas as to why this is happening.
i am using vista home premium sp1.

i had similar setup on my last system and everything worked fine when i played bluray discs in powerdvd vmc would stay on background and icouls use remote or i could minimise vmc and browse internet without it popping back up each time i pressed the keyboard. only difference was that i didnt have sp1 installed on that system

thanks
eddy
