basically you need another app to watch blu-ray discs (such as PowerDVD 7.3). Your blu-ray drive should have come with some software.
On the other side, there is an app where you can get it to load PowerDVD from within VMC.
- see ourmediacenter.com for more info on this.
Also there is a VMC skin for PowerDVD. Google it and you should find it.
If not i may have a workable solution for you to enable.

I have an LG BluRay/HD-DVD combo drive in mine, I can play all HD formats fine using TotalMedia Theatre, and it doesn't need any "workaround" since it has a proper 10' interface that fits in with VMC quite nicely.

I was reading the literature from Arc Soft and it mentioned that it only worked with Vista 32bit. Do you know if it will work on a Vista 64 bit platform?

Well if you guy's want to do an experiment for me.
I think we may be able to get bluray working for ya in VMC, with out purchasing any codec's/decoders. Maybe.
try installing this haali media splitter from here http://haali.cs.msu.ru/mkv/ (i personly use FFDshow with this splitter, not shure if ff and haali are required for bluray)
and graphedit. You may also need (unsure here) slysoft anydvdHD, it would be god to try without first.
The reason why i sugest this is because the above filter gets used for enabling playback of AVCHD files (as created by modern camcorders) in VMC. see this thread AVCHD in VMC
my ramblings start at #17
I have read some where that the bluray format is also AVCHD. so to me 1 + 1 = bluray lovin.
Camcorder AVCHD file extension is .m2t, .m2ts, .m2v
what is the file extension of the files on a bluray disk?
I have been using the following method to get the blu-ray movies playing in the VMC. I don't ever bother with the discs and always rip them to HDD (kids trash discs!). I use Anydvd HD to rip the movie to HDD. I then use TSremux to take out the vid and audio stream I want and mux them back together as a m2ts file. Rename the extension as .mkv then I add them to my Movie Collector and play them back in VMC. The only thing to note is that these are big files (12-24Gb) and do take some HDD space. Getting rid of the unnecessary audio/video does help though. It usually takes about 3hours to rip and convert a movie on my Intel Q9300, 4Gb RAM machine.

I've just ordered a combo Pioneer drive, nno burning support. I'm hoping that its just a matter up plug and play. Any experience with these particular drives?
Yep, they're good. They also come with the PlayMovie plugin which sort of integrates blu-ray playback into VMC. It's not perfect but it's much better than any hacks.

I'm interested in this PlayMovie plugin, or I should say I'm interested in the easiest solution for the Missus to play Bluray within VMC as I'm going to upgrade the DVD drive soon. I don't mind using PowerDVD outside of VMC but would like to use somthing within VMC.
What do people think the 'cleanest' option is to get Bluray playing within VMC is at the moment?
There is pretty much only 3 options that I am aware of.
1. PlayMovie - This is OEM only, and AFAIK only comes with the Pioneer blu-ray drives available in Australia. The limitation is that the bundled Cyberlink version only provides stereo output. You can upgrade to ultra though and get the others.
2. Arcsoft TotalMedia Theatre - Is Arcsofts HD software. It comes with a VMC plugin included which is slightly better integrated than the playmovie one. I have never really been able to get it to play nicely with my other codecs though (breaks sound playback on all my encoded videos), so I have only used it once.
3. This plugin. I've never used it myself but it basically closes the MCE interface, launches PowerDVD and maps some remote buttons so you can control it. As I said, I've never used it but I understand it has some limitations. Good for those that have Cyberlink but not Playmovie though.

Thanks.
So with the PlayMovie plugin, where does it create a launch icon in VMC? and you said earlier it 'sort of' works, what are the problems or annoyances with it?
