Does anyone know how to play mkv files in vista 64 bit MC. I read to install the haali (matrosla Splitter) and the ffdshow filter to make this work. After doing this, the mkv file plays audio only but not the video.
@logifuse
I did exactly as it says, and MC says that it cannot play ythe format. I t seems as though the mkv was unpacked by the splitter, but could not play.
thnxs, now the video plays in MC, but I have a couple of other problems:
1.) The audio seems to be very low, although when I play the same mkv in another player, the volume increases to high. I have checked, and my system and MC volume are on high.
2.) The video looks grainy compared to when I play the mkv in another player.
I had issues with the audio when playing back MKV files, but it turned out that the MKV files had 5.1 audio, and the FFDSHOW (that gets installed by Vista Codec Pack) wasnt down sampling the 5.1 to two channel for me.. it was simply outputting the left and right channels to the left and right channels - so the voices sounded quiet as there was no center channel. You may need to go into the AUDIO DECODER PROPERTIES and check your MIXER settings.. You need to tick the mixer option and then set the output speaker configuration to whatever type of speaker setup you have.

Thnxs, buddy the audio was solved with this.
Do you think that the video choppyness could be also because of the codec settings? I just installed the video codec with standard options.
Thank you for all of your help, but I decided to odwnld smplayer, and in that no codecs are required, and teh image looks very clear. But thanxs for all of ur help.
