SP1 - Registry Keys Required To Prevent Guide Corruption

Microsoft previously released three Hotfixes. One to resolve a deinterlacing issue and two to address guide corruption issues with Australian EPGs. They were covered in detail in this thread.

The three patches (KB935685 -Discovery Service Update Fix, KB938927 - Guide Corruption Fix and KB932649 - de-interlace problems) are all included in SP1 but they require two registry keys set to be effective. If you are running SP1 you MUST set these keys to have a stable guide.

If you have previously installed these hotfixes, the keys will have already been set and you won't need to set them again, but if you are installing Vista clean and use SP1, then these keys are essential.

If you are not running SP1, then download the hotfixes in the other thread and install them.

I have made a .reg file you can download. Simply unzip it and then double-click on the file. It will update the registry for you. Download the file from here

Re: SP1 - Registry Keys Required To Prevent Guide Corruption

Glen - Can you please confirm whether or not the registry file works with Vista 64 SP1.

Cheers
Steve

Same registry entries for 32 and 64 bit Vista.

That's right, as I said in the opening post, the patches are included in SP! but the registry keys are NOT. You still ahve to apply the registry keys for the patches to be effective in the Australian environment.

Re: SP1 - Registry Keys Required To Prevent Guide Corruption

i havent applied the keys either with no issues lol, I did go into scheduler and remove the autoupdate , so i dunno if that does the same thing (stops checking for updates and guide updates)

Re: SP1 - Registry Keys Required To Prevent Guide Corruption

Is this reg file just for the two guide related updates, or does it enable the de-interlace fix as well?

Re: SP1 - Registry Keys Required To Prevent Guide Corruption

This one is just for the guide issue. There is no extra reg key required for the de-interlace problem, just the patch which I believe is in SP1.

Re: SP1 - Registry Keys Required To Prevent Guide Corruption

Not that it fixes guide corruption issues.

I have had Vista SP1 going with the registry hacks applied for a few weeks and the guide has screwed up a few times (5 maybe)

I get the guide country/location error.. Using the fix button in ICE and rebooting sometimes recovers it, but atm I have lost SBS from the guide and cant get it back.

There are still major issues with guide stability IMHO.

I recken MS needs to come out with a patch that just uses the TV station supplied guide data that comes down in the broadcast stream.. they seem to have this data several days ahead and it seems accurate enough to me.. and at least the integration should be stable!

I agree, I lost SBS again today, even after having installed all patches/fixes....

Re: SP1 - Registry Keys Required To Prevent Guide Corruption

my HTPC can no longer pick up SBS signal (although every other channel is fine). I tried installing this fix to get it going again, but to no avail.

running vista premium 64bit with a hauppague HVR 2200.

any ideas how to fix this?

Re: SP1 - Registry Keys Required To Prevent Guide Corruption

Got exactly the same problem - could have SBS changed something?
