Re: Guide: DVD Library Setup in Vista

PHP Code:
Step 3Getting Pretty Cover Art and/or Metadata(I love this part of it)
Get the cover artegfrom amazon for exampleSave it in the "Aliens" folder as "folder.jpg" Calling this file "folder.jpg" is essential to it showing up !!
Another easy way to get a great personalized cover art for the folder is to use VideoRedo.

I did try playing the video file and pausing it at an appropriate place to use as the cover art. Then pressing the PRTSCN key should capture that image to the clipboard. PROBLEM is, because it is an active video display, the clipboard contents are quite unreliable, and are often just black.

However using VideoRedo to replay the video file, it is very easy to pause at the appropriate place, adjust frame by frame, and then hit PRTSCN. This produces a reliable image for the clipboard. It is then simply a matter of going into paint, pasting the image from the clipboard, then saving the image as folder.jpg

It certainly then makes the ordinarily blue folder look much more pretty!

After writing this I did a preview! Sorry but I could not correct the previous listing box surround. How does everyone else do it in the blue shaded box?

Re: Guide: DVD Library Setup in Vista

Using VideoRedo to make art clips!

Update! Woops! Only works some of the time. The video can still be lost for the jpg and produce a black screen.

But it does work sometimes!!!!!!

Re: Guide: DVD Library Setup in Vista

I think the whole point of movieme is to grab metadata and the proper cover art. If you dont want that, or the metadata retrieved is not appropriate, theres no point in fiddling with VRD(which not everyone has)

just go to amazon and get the cover and rename to folder.jpg, or google any pic you like and do the same

and, not commonly known in Vista is the snipping tool !! which can be used to capture anything on screen It's at Start>>Programs>>Acessories (where calculator etc usually are)

Re: Guide: DVD Library Setup in Vista

AnyDVD is a paid program and DVD Shrink is a freeware one. They're both not a vista plugin, but a standard Vista app.

Do a google search for them. You should also look at the steps required to enable the DVD gallery in Vista MCE as well.

thetron may need to clarify...whether he was inquiring about ripping dvds in general or doing it via the mce interface ??

I use dvd shrink or decrypter, depending on what mood im in and what I need to do with the files But these of course are apps that run *outside* of the MC interface
