Hi, I live in England and am having trouble with downloading tv guide in Media center, I.ve come across your item and wonder if your instructions would work for me. When I download the guide I get message"Giude server erro 21. Guide could not be downloaded". I would be grateful for your advice
These hotfixes will be part of Vista SP1. So once you have SP1 installed, you wont need to download these hotfixes. However you will still need to set the registry keys to enable them.
Glen, once SP1 eventually becomes available, you might want to have a different set of instructions on how to just set the registry keys.

Hi Mike
I've just sold my current rig with MCE2005 and now I've got VMC (Ultimate 32Bit) and it looks like I've encounted this "bug" last night.
Do you know when SP1 is coming out, days, weeks or months?
This may help me to decide to either put the patches in or wait for SP1.
Garyvx, the rumours are SP1 BETA won't be out until November. I'd go with the patches. They're easy to download from this site, simple to install and save LOTS of pain.
They are very simple to setup, they place where some people get unstuck is forgetting to run the registry patches .. BOTH of them Once youve done that...'tis smooth sailing as far as the guide is concerned.

I just wanted to add my name to the chorus of thankyous here Glen. Very helpful stuff mate. It came in really handy when I rebuilt my machine last night!
I'm in the US. Can anyone refer me to a site for the Hotfix files for the US? I have the indentical epg error code 21 and useless VMC. Your Hotifx files message on installation is "The update does not apply to your system."
Have been unable to find [i]any[i] other site on the web that has an answer. I see lots of the problem being referenced, though.

Thank you for any help you can give.
Unfortunately the fix was designed specifically for Australia and I'm not aware of any similar issue or fix for the US. It might be worth contacting Microsoft directly to find out if they are aware of this problem. Personally I thought the issue only affected Australian users because of the nature of Australian DVB-T broadcasting.

Being able to switch off opportunistic scanning is useful for DVB-T in any country. I don't know why it was the default behaviour. Channels don't change that often. This has caused no end of EPG issues in the UK with channels appearing to come & go with a marginal signal strength. Much better to have the channel remain in the EPG.
