How long is vista gonna last?

ok XP has been around for what 5-6 years now....
the question is how long do u think vista will be around??

reason y im asking.... ive had this copy of XP installed for 3 years now and ive been useing xp for 3 years.... and id like to do the same with vista build one machine and run it for the life of the OS (sounds painfull useing a system that is 3-4 years old)

anyway to the polls

P.S. that machine of mine 2.6celeron 1gb ram 80gb hdd 48x48x24 cdburn (top of the line 3 years ago) FFS this is a pile of crap now......

New Microsoft OS development cycle is 3 years.
I think that MS will buy Intel and Wintel will rule the world and oppress governments

Re: How long is vista gonna last?

oooo dont know about that..... i think intel is worth more then pplz give it granted for its got develpment centers and factorys all over the world.... MS... US based.... infact they may have offices else where in the world.... but they are just offices... they dont do any real development or anything outside the USA

(same problem as google)

They have a huge division in India I believe (like most large companies these days).

that section is just telmarketing/call centers if it was to blow up 2morrow it wouldnt slow down the MS monster... but if someone blew up one of the US offices it would cripple the company for a week... or 2.....

Like the news story about vista takeing a extra day to ship cuz the power went out!!! FFS MS u should have UPS's on every machine in the building and a back up generator!!!

anyway..... priced a new PC.... $1600+ that sucks... think im gonna wait till march when the prices drop

It also includes one of their five research centres, part of IE 7 development team and many other development groups. I saw a reference to 30% of Microsoft employees being Indian (not necesarily residing there) so they make up a large and important part of their workforce. And I reckon that figure doesn't include helpdesk/telemarketing as that's probably contracted out to external companies :-)

The road from Longhorn has truly been a long and winding one. When APC was first briefed on Longhorn, it was as part of a reviewer's workshop on Windows XP held at Microsoft's campus in Seattle in very early 2001.

At that stage, Longhorn was meant to be more akin to a service pack or mid-lifecycle 'refresh' to XP, which would then be followed by the release of the 'Blackcomb' Windows client and server. (The Blackcomb edition has since been scrubbed in favour of the Vista 'Fiji' service pack expected in 2008 and the Windows 'Vienna' OS for 2010-2012).

after reading that im going with 2012-2015
