BladeRunner Pro - Released

I find that XPMCE needs the occasional reboot to reset a lot of things. My projector system runs 24/7 and after a while i notice that the tv signal can get a bit jumpy, reboot and voila, good as gold
Noticed the same thing with BRP, i use a manual download regime (when MCE tells me to ) and i was getting the download error, rebooted and all was fine.
I suspect after time that the memory fragments and eventually performance just goes from bad to worse.
I run the Rudeo PocketPC remote as well and that has similar issues so it is definetley not a one program fault.
Windows XP/MCE aint perfect (and most likely never will be) as we all want to fiddle to get the most out of experience. By doing so you HAVE to expect some level of instabilty
I want to thank all involved now with BRP cos it is just so much better and easier to use than Bladerunner (and that was pretty good).
Hunted through the threads but cant seem to see if anyone
has the same issue with Bladerunner in Adelaide.
Just rebuilt my MCE (dont ask).....and whacked on BRP, following the
instructions. Can only see ABC2 in the guide, nothing else.
Removed and re-installed BRP and again exactly the same thing.
Any ideas guys and gals?
This is the last thing I need to do prior to doing a ghost image (so I dont spend
all night rebuilding again :-)
Appreciate any input, thanks.
Hi Keanhi,
You need to 'add listings to channels' as the channel and guide names are different (except ABC2). Remember to save after you've gone through all the channels.
Make sure you are adding guide listsing to data (or whatever it actually says).
BRP renames the channels, and applies them to the guide automatically, only if the channel names match. If they don't, ensure you set them up to. It is listed as a kind of after thought in the BRP instructions list (might be worth making an ammendment to that Blade/Monster, as this is not the first time this question has been asked), as it would assume you know to do this, but give that a try...
The reason it adds ABC2, is that it is the only one that has a matching name and entry by default....
Hi all,
have had BRP working nicely in the guide but have a few questions which hopefully someone can answer easily.
1/ Can someone clarify how BRP is supposed to work in updating? ie does it just update based on the scheduled task and MCE recognises that new data is available and shows it in the guide section? In other words when MCe prompts for an update of info is it just going to the "fake" web page created by BRP and being tricked into thinking it is updating (without actually going online). Or is it actually going online, running BRP download and also updating?
2/ I am using a dialup so when the sceduled BRP task starts it gets a failure as no internet connection is found - what's the easiest way to resolve this?
3/I am also now (after second BRP update) experiencing the missing days issue menioned here. This wasn't happening on the initial and first update but has now happened.
Has anyone actually come to a firm conclusion on the cause of this?
Cheers
I need payTV programming data for my Canberra TransACT cable TV so Bladerunner Pro seems to be not for me. But I wonder if I'm missing something with the manual download option in BRP . I currently use EPGRunner which gives me all the data I need. Is there some way I can continue to download EPGrunner's data and automatically copy it to the BRP Listings2.xml file? Is EPGrunner's data in the correct configuration for BRP?
I run a batch file every time I resume my machine from standby so an extra process (copying the data) wouldn't make much difference. Has anyone out there looked into this? The reason I'm interested if that if/when BRP fixes the "forget single recording" problem I'd be keen to enjoy the benefits of Blade's great work along with everyone else.

u cant use the data from EPGRunner because it leaves a processed version of the xml data not the actually xml so BRP cant utilise this format BUT could be updated to i guess probably not worth the effort tho.
the single recording issue has been fixed and is currently being tested so expect a new release soon.

Got it all up and running...now I'll just image the sucker to save
me some pain next time I bugger up the operating system.
Reason for the rebuild.
Whacked in a ATI Radeon card to replace the Nvidia fx5700. Learnt
something new......always remove any Nvidia drivers/software prior
to installing the ATI drivers, otherwise your system will go to custard
in a hurry.
This time I also wrote down every step of the install for future reference,
ya think it might be worth posting?
Sure your build doc is worth posting. Just make sure it's a new thread in a relevant forum and the title reflects the content. It may save others from the grief you went through.

BRP updates the guide data and places the output file into a location, and in a format that MCE knows about. MCE knows nothing about BRP, it just does an update on it's own schedule and reads the file that BRP has produced. So if you never run BRP, MCE will still happily read the file until it has less than 3 days of info left then it will notify you. The idea of scheduling BRP is to keep that file up to date.

There is an app called rasdial which should be on a standard OS install. You can schedule it to dial up the connection prior to BRP running. Rasdial can also be configured to disconnect on schedule. You could make a batch file or script to run rasdial, then run BRP, then disconnect your network connection. Then just schedule this script/batch to run whenever you like. Type rasdial /? from a command prompt for more info on how to use it.
From memory it goes something like..rasdial 'connection name' 'username 'password' to connect and simply...rasdial 'connection name' /disconnect to hang up.

This is no fault of BRP's. It is due to the data not being available on the site which BRP is configured to grab the data from. All websites go through an update or maintenance period and this one has been doing it over the last couple of weeks. It should come good again soon.
You can always install BRP in manual mode and grab the data from a different source. Search the forums for more info on this.
thanks Sambooka,
will look into rasdial.
With regard to BRP - that's pretty much what I thought happened but wasn't sure then of the effect/difference in using thethree options when setting up the guide for updating ie manual, connect when online or connect then download - as the BRP has already got the info it presumably doesn't matter which option is selected. Except if I choose the auto option MCE will go online before still getting the data already downloaded on my machine which (with a dialup) seems pointless.
Am i understanding this correctly?
