Loosing channels and all that (NZ issues)

I have read but a fraction of the mammoth thread that is Loosing Channels / Guide disappearing – IceTV and Vista (Possibly also MCE2005), so I'm hesitant to post there when I have a NZ problem and am unaware of all that has transpired in that thread.

My problem is that although I can set up my channels fine, when the guide update runs manualy or automatically I lose my frequencies in VMC. I still have the same 5 channels in the same order with EPG data, but I get static. Using Proccess Monitor I tracked this problem to the update deleting a reg key called 'HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\TV System Services\TVAutoTune\TS64-0'. This has the frequencies for all the NZ channels stored in it, these values being written from a file called mcetuningoverides.xml which is in the eHome folder.

To restore the frequencies I need to run the guide setup process again. Once it has finished downloading the EPG data VMC calls up the mcetuniningoverides file from a reg link ('HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\Cu rrentVersion\Media Center\Service\TuningOverrides\XMLOverrideFile'), then writes the correct reg key based on your country code (NZ is 64). VMC then uses this file for the frequencies.

What I want to know is A) are people trying to stop channels disappearing aware of this and is it relevant to there problems B) is there a way to use a program like keepkey to protect the HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\TV System Services\TVAutoTune\TS64-0 folder so I don't lose my frequencies?

Do you have digital dvb-t or are you experiencing this problem with analogue tv ?

Not sure what the situation in nz is... so it will be interesting to know the type of tv reception your using or have available...

analouge unfortunatly, DVB-T is still a year away for us I will post an update on this soon, i've reset up my BRP setup, with the new MCU ipdate change, and for the first time VMC is finding channels in the 'scan for services'. Not sure what to make of this yet
