Best way to schedule Olympics recording?

Since no details EPG for individual type of games, what is the best option to schedule the recording?

Just by manual?

Re: Best way to schedule Olympics recording?

The choices are basically manual if you want to record specific events (provided they are shown live!) or just record it all and skip through - that's what I do.

Re: Best way to schedule Olympics recording?

The Free*EPG guide for SBS is showing individual event details split into small 1-2hr chunks.

Re: Best way to schedule Olympics recording?

yes it seems that SBS are a little more forthcoming with event specific scheduling while seven are more concerned with making sure you have to watch it all. Another reason why ACMA needs to get serious about imposing standards on EPG data!

Anyway, I have personally cleared the hard drive on my VMC of anything that is unnecessary and I simply record the whole lot. Interestingly, I have found precious little to play at normal speed other than the occasional soccer or hockey match. The rest gets skipped through as quickly as possible.

An interesting side note is that VMC doesn't seem to be particularly consistent in remembering the last place I watched up to in the recording and often does not give me a "resume" option. I'm wondering if there's an issue with such large files or is it that I am watching some of it before the recording is finished?

Wow this sounds familiar! The skip button is getting a work out for those things they just repeat over and over like the gold performances and medal presentations, I counted 5 times yesterday for whats her name in the pool! While they are repeating this stuff they leave out other interesting stuff. Lucky 7 is promoting TiVo so more people can skip the crap!

I've seen the same thing with resume, but narrowed it down to only losing the resume position while its still recording. I've taken to pausing and then back to other things, this has successfully left the resume point at all times. Perhaps give that a try.

lol... Yep and apart from that I'm a bit over a 30 minute lead up to a 2 minute swimming event followed as you say by 500 repeats of the same thing.

As far as I'm concerned now I'm only interested in watching the team sports so at least I get pictures of people actually engaged in sport to distract me from the awful commentary.

Point taken on the resume issue. It seems it won't retain a place holder on programs that are still recording so I can live with that. It's just a bit of a nuiscance to have to skip through hours of garbage over and over.

Re: Best way to schedule Olympics recording?

IceTV are doing a good job with their Guide and Im using keyword recordings for things like "Weightlifting" & "Cycling" and then using the sport category to further refine things.

Re: Best way to schedule Olympics recording?

Finally I have to go to Yahoo7 Olympics web site and check the schedule set up recording manually but the problem is they have startup time and don't have end time.

So don't know how long I have to record it.

Any web sites show a best TV guide?
