Foxtel and FTA Listings

Hi all,

Im kinda stuck between posting this in the EPGstream foums or here, but Ive come to the conclusion that the issues Im having are more of a VMC quirk than the EPGstream software.

OK, the steps ive been through to get a working DTV and analogue (Foxtel) guide in the past are:-

Setup TV signal, and enable guide for DTV
Copied the DTV and TVConfig registry entries out AND copied the EPG data out
Setup analogue and enabled guide
Copied the DTV back in, copied the EPG data back in, set the current EPG to match the DTV guide, and changed TVconfig settings
All this is in Wixkidders guide.

Now, before in the past (using Foxtel platinum feed from EPGstream), Ive then simply gone to 'edit channels' then 'Select All' to add all the missing Foxtel channels to my guide.

Now, configuring the XMLTVDownload and wmcguideproxy ive downloaded the channel list, selected my Foxtel and FTA channels. Then Ive downloaded the XML data from Oztivo OK.

Then in wmcguideproxy, Ive used as a starter and then edited and added my FTA channels for Perth (from Bangers post here:-http://www.xpmediacentre.com.au/community/free-epg-discussion-only/30661-epgstream-stopping-pay-tv-guides-2.html#post211241).

Now, when i setup DTV, all guide data appears in the correct channels without any need to assign listings to channels (all good ), Ive then gone and edited channels and removed a few duplicates (removed Ch1 (ten HD) as it apprears on ch12 also etc etc)
So all good..

Then setup Foxtel, and again all channels line up fine BUT the DTV channels also show up on the guide. When you try to go to them, it tries to change the Foxtel box to whatever (7 for channel 7, or 90 for nine HD), and the Foxtel box says "channel not available".

Then going through and adding back the DTV stuff as above, edit channels, select all etc fixes that problem as then ch 10 changes the DTV card and then ch 101 changes the Foxtel box and I can see all my DTV and Foxtel channels in my guide.

But....I now have additional channels in the guide that dont appear in any XML config file that Ive edited and I havent selected them to be downloaded either. Its almost as though the guide and VMC shunt the channels that are duplicated in analogue AND DTV to another channel number.

I know it sounds confusing, and I`ll try to take some snapshots tonight, but anyone had the same issues with the new system of DTV and Foxtel listings?

I guess I can always go through and add channels manually and assign a liting to them, but for 50 plus channels, its REALLY time consuming and its something that I never had to do before with the 'old' EPG stream system.

Anyone help/advise please?

Re: Foxtel and FTA Listings

Having the exact same problem.

Using XMLTVdownload & wmcGuideServiceProxy to import FTA & Foxtel listings. All channels come through with listings correctly but as with misterp when I try to change to FTA channel the wmc now tries to use set top box.

Do I have to set up the FTA without the wmcGuideServiceProxy and then save the registry settings etc as previously and then using the wmcGuideServiceProxy setup the foxtel + FTA listings and then edit the registry with the FTA settings??

Any assistance from anyone who has been able to get this working would be greatly appreciated.

btw I am using Vista media centre.

Re: Foxtel and FTA Listings

Managed to get this working... did have to set up DTV first and the export reg settings etc and then setup foxtel and import fta settings.

However I am now having problems recording FTA, Foxtel works fine but FTA has a recording conflict.

Below are my settings, I have a dual digital/analog tuner and have previously just followed the guides here and it's just worked.

Dig Tuner A Dig Tuner B Analog

Record Order 0 1 1

Record Pref 0 0 ffffffff

Watch Order 0 0 1

Watch Pref 0 ffffffff ffffffff

I have tried various changes to these settings and read the guides but my head is starting to hurt. Any assistance would be greatly appreciated.

btw I only have one aerial for FTA and one composite input for Foxtel.

Re: Foxtel and FTA Listings

Okay..Ive traced where my problem was.

its very important to get the channels you select in the XMLTVDownload application vs the XML channelsettings.xml configuration that you import into the WMCguideproxy service.
If they match 1 to 1, then all should be OK. Same goes for if youve selected a channel in XMLTVDownload, and NOT defined the channel number/callID's etc in your settings XML file, then VMC will simply tack them onto the end of your guide lisitings.

Last night I went through ALL the strange ones, and found a mixture of didnt exisit (Club V for example is an option, yet doesnt exisit (now known as channel V)) and Discovery Home and Leisure is known as Lifestyle).
Removed all those and found that Id missed a few definitions (e.g I knew I have the Crime network selected, but hadnt derfined an entry in my channels XML file, so VMC guide simply put it as ch 816 ( I think) as it tacked it onto the end of the last 'known' channel.
Simply entered in the chanels XML file as the correct channel (whatever it is) and away I went.

I can send/post my settings if anyones interested, but it will be different for every state, and every flavour/package of Foxtel people have.
FYI Im in Perth, and pay for the Foxtel Entertainment package (No box office or Sport).

If its any help to anyone, then let me know and I can post it up tonight.

FYI, use XMLNotepad for editing (http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/d...ang=en)...dead easy and really useful when duplicating channels.

Hope it helps.

Hey Guys,

The default behaviour of wmcGuideServiceProxy is to automatically add new channels when they are detected in the source XMLTV file. These extra channels are automatically allocated a channel number ...

If you guys like we can add a new option to disable this auto-add feature.

Thanks,

Yep its possible, there are guides on this website you need to follow :

Digital and Analog TV (Guide)

I'm using the hauppage HVR 2200 tuner which has the dual digital and analog tuners on it.
Foxtel into the analog part and FTA into the digital tuner.
I'm using the guide from the brilliant peeps at Epgstream

http://forum.epgstream.net/viewtopic.php?f=56&t=500

All worked well for me got it up and running very quickly.

Re: Foxtel and FTA Listings

Where are you located skissors? I am in Brisbane and have heard reports of the 10HD channels not working in SEQ.
I am getting 10HD for the F1 telecasts so this is really the main reason i want it.

Hiya,

I'm in Perth. Not sure what SEQ? means

I can get all channels including the 10 HD channel with the guide, Usually says No data if it is showing the same program as channel 10, if its shows something different it is usually listed.

Hey Skissors, I have just spent the weekend trying to set up Foxtel and FTA on Vista with the HVR 2200...I haven't had much luck.

I was just wondering if you could post a registry file with the settings for your tuners so I can compare it to mine?

Re: Foxtel and FTA Listings

hey pjalliso,

any luck with your setup? I'm also trying to setup something similar to you. I have a hvr-2200 dual tuners card. At the moment I can record 2 digital channels at once or 1 digital and 1 analog (from foxtel) only if I start analog recording first. If digital recording started first then analog will not record !!!

Re: Foxtel and FTA Listings

I ended up ditching the idea of trying to use both sides of the HVR-2200 and I am now just using it for FTA Digital. I had a PVR-150-MCE anyway and after upgrading to Vista the drivers for that are a lot better.

Re: Foxtel and FTA Listings

A bit of research will demonstrate that HVR2200 cannot eb used for BOTH digital and analogue at the same time(although we would like it to )

According to reports, This tuner does what all those fawning HVR2200 owners wish it did Not easily available here, but you can get em from OS. Quality is top notch, based on Phillips chip of course

Hi Guys

I've got a digital now card 'DNTV Live! Dual Hybrid PCI-E S3' it works brilliantly it'll record 2 dvb free to air channels and a foxtel channel at the same time. at only $140 can't beat it really. Been using it for 12 months or so with vista media centre htpc and it's been great
