A question for the FreeEPG & ICE tech folk.

A question for the FreeEPG and Ice guys.

Having tried ICE, (thought is was great by the way), and failing miserably to download due to error code 13 problems, I moved to FreeEPG - to get the same error code 13 problems!

Anyway, I have got around the main problem, but still cannot get the guide to automatically update, I have to continually force an update - no good if I want to go on holiday.

So - back to my question, we bought a new TV last night with HD tuner and that has a splendid guide built in, taking advantage of the broadcasters now providing guide information.

From what I understand, Microsoft will not be releasing an dpofficial guide anytime soon to take advantage of this.

I have followed the thread, 'data in the transport stream', but all looks to complicated for me, and I'm not sure it would get around my problem as I have also tried XMLTV to get the data, which worked, but I think my problem is getting the acquired data actually into the guide itself.

What I am trying to get to, are either FreeEPG or ICE working on any 'new' programs for delivering guide data that don't rely on downloading data and feeding into MCE guide? i.e. basically something that does what the Microsoft one should be doing, and pulling data from the networks and automatically populating the guide?

Just wondering if there are plans on the cards for the above, or whether I need to resign myself to unreliable downloads until this whole EPG saga is played out.

Cheers.

Re: A question for the FreeEPG & ICE tech folk.

Do a new search for EIT for more info - you'll see talk about an upcoming Vista update (codenamed Fiji) that includes it.
