EPG seems to download, but doesn't update?

Hi,

After having tons of problems downloading the guide, (error code 13 - no surprises there), and trying all the 'fixes' in Aarons blog, none of which worked, I finally found a work around by stopping & restarting the background intelligent transfer service before I download the guide.

I wrote a batch file to stop & restart BITS each time the machine wakes, and also scheduled it to run daily. I then used the guide update schedule program to force a guide update two minutes after my scheduled BITS restart.

This is where it gets weird.

If I wake the machine up, wait a few seconds for BITS bat to restart and force a guide update it works perfect.

However, if I leave it to update via the schedule, it's a no go. BUT it appears to think it has worked. i.e. before I solved the BITS problem, my guide NEVER updated no matter what. So, if I woke the machine and the guide had failed there would be an error waiting to tell me so. Similarly, the event viewer would show an error for esched. However, when the guide autoupdates after a BITS restart it all appears to work. There is no download error message waiting for me and the event viewer shows everything fine - BUT it hasn't actually updated the guide. I still have to do a manual update.

Any ideas on why it appears to download, but isn't actually updating the guide?

Thanks.

Re: EPG seems to download, but doesn't update?

No ideas anyone?

This is driving me insane. My Guide works fine, I'm happy with the data I get, just fed up of having to manually update daily. Especially weekends, when I may have to remember to do several updates to make sure my Saturday night prime-time guide data populates.

It means I can't go away, even for a couple of days, and know that my shows will record.

I just cant understand why the event viewer tells me the guide has worked, but that MCE hasn't actually updated the lists?

If I manually download, the lists populate no worries.

Any ideas?

Is there another log somewhere that may give me a clue as to what MCE is doing during a download & update?

Cheers.
