epgstream wint no internet access??

Hi
For several reasons that I won't bore you with, I have no internet access at home..
I do have a Vista Media Center, and have set up (whilst at work) an account on epgstream.net.
Now, I need to know is there an easy-ish way of downloading the epg whilst at work, then simply uploading it into media center when I get home.

I'm assuming the epg is some form of xml file or similar...

Any Ideas anyone?

Thanx

D

Question Re: epgstream with no internet access??

I have a similar issue.

I've got a Vista Ultimate install running Media Center but have got no internet at the moment. However here in the UK the epg is transmitted along with our tv channels so I've managed to get the epg info out of the stream and into the proper guide format using a small util and Bladerunner.

I've installed the disableUpdateDiscSvc hotfix and set all the registry keys (see below).

However whenever I try and setup my guide in MCE I get a "An unknown connection failure" error.

When I check the trace log, it's trying to connect to www.microsoft.com so either; it's ignoring the discSvc entry, i've missed something or MCE still needs to connect to the internet for some other part of the EPG process?

Has anyone got a custom epg update to work without any connection to the internet?
Cheers!
Gavin

Re: epgstream wint no internet access??

Of course this isnt a supported scenario. However, I think you'll need to
  1. setup the machine while you have with internet access then you can remove the internet access.
  2. disable the task scheduler->windows->media center->mcupdate task (right click, disable) - its used for on spolight apps
  3. Possibly you'll want to change the download option under tasks->settngs->general->automatic download options over to manual (not sure there).
  4. Change your discSvc reg key to your localhost server with your own EPG data.

Cheers

Mike
