So my rig crashed on me and i thought id give service pack 1 a try when i reloaded everything. Seems to work a treat except for the fact that i cant install the KB935685 (keep guide data from being overwritten) hotfix. Keeps saying that it dosen't apply to my system.
So i went back to my original copy of vista, installed the hotfixes and used microsoft update to download SP1 and everythings fine again.
Has anyone else had this problem?
Id like to think that microsoft hasnt forgotten about use with the rollout of SP1......
Unfortunately I haven't installed the hotfix after the Service Pack so it wasn't an issue for me but I'm interested when you say you used MS Update. I didn't think it was available for download that way until March.
The KB935685 & KB938957 guide hotfixes were supposed to be included with SP1, so if you install SP1 you won't need these hotfixes added later, so they probably won't install.
You will still need to add the registry keys for them to work, however.

There is a little registry tweak that will allow you to download RC2 i think it is which is apparently the same as the RTM version.
EDIT: ive uploaded the MS update SP1 registry change. Just rename the .txt file to a .bat and you should br right. Works fine for me but use it at your own risk.....

Yes I'm aware that you can get RC2 that way but it's not necessarily exactly the same as the RTM version which released on Monday. Personally I wouldn't touch a release candidate except on a test machine.
