Can't install Free*EPG client

I am completely stumped !!!

I have built many MCE 2005 PC's before but this is my first attempt on Vista.

I cannot install Free*EPG. The install begins and then fails:

Insufficent Application Security

This setup wizard requires an increased level of security to run in order to configure your system !

The following permission levels are required in order to continue configuring your system:

[Registry] - Configure your Free*EPG settings.
[Internet] - Connect to Free*EPGweb services.

Please re-run this application as Administrator or as a user with Administrator privledges.

I am definately logged in as a user with admin rights but for some reason I cannot figure this out ???

The install says "Free*EPG Windows XP Media Center 2005 Setup", is this correct ??? Is there a Vista client or do you just use the MCE 2005 client on Vista.

Has anyone encountered this before, I am very close to going back to MCE 2005.

Thanks.

Jeff

Try right clicking on the installer app and selecting 'run as administrator'.

Or alternatively, turn of UAC. Start --> Type 'msconfig' and then in tools (I think) launch the disable UAC option. This will require a restart (you can reenable it by running msconfig again).

Re: Can't install Free*EPG client

Make sure you also account for the critical KB updates for Vista so the EPG remains stable because it's not as simple as MC2005. Vista instructions here: http://www.xpmediacentre.com.au/comm...or-14-fix.html Although the great people at FreeEPG probably account for much of it on their site now too.

I got a few permission errors when I first installed it on Vista, then found out that it does that when trying to run the installer over the network. So try copying the file to the MC PC, then try running it.
