Guide Time for VISTA - What to Use?

I just converted over to Vista Ult on my older rig, very nice!!

One of the tweaks I am still sorting out is the Guide Download Time hack.

In MCE05 I could use either

1. GuideTime - under Vista it needs framework 1.1.4322 installed, I haven't gone down this path yet, trying not to install extra software if not needed. This used to be the most reliable tool and didn't need a reboot.

2. EPG Change Down Load Time - seems to work initially under Vista but the registry changes don't seem to stick...even with a reboot

What is everyone using or do you just leave it be. I have checked the event logs and my VMC seems to download every time it wakes from sleep resetting any registry changes. I would prefer the old down load 1800 each day to prevent unecessary waking a night.

Later,

Nudge

Re: Guide Time for VISTA - What to Use?

Hi Nudge.

Vista uses a random time every day to update it's guide so trying to fix it doesn't work. It just resets it the next time it does an update.

Not much we can do about that one unless you disable the mcupdate scheduled task.
