Smile Change Vista Guide Download Time

Hi Everyone,

Anyone tried the XP MCE GuideTime tools here on Vista?

http://www.xpmediacentre.com.au/comm...?do=file&id=47

or

http://thegreenbutton.com/forums/per...ead.aspx#31957

I just want to change the time from current 8:45pm to Middday and I don't want to run this in case it screws something.

Cheers
Paul

Re: Change Vista Guide Download Time

This utility does what you want and doesn't require installation.

I doubt that anything available for download on this site would "screw" your system.

Re: Change Vista Guide Download Time

If you use the tool that krypto mentions on Vista, you'll also need to disable the mcupdate task the task scheduler. Mcupdate will clobber the next Download Time back to its original value.
  1. Click on the Start Button
  2. Search for the Task Scheduler – just type Task Scheduler in the search input box at the bottom and press enter
  3. The Task Scheduler will now be running (after the usual Vista are you sure prompts)
  4. On the left hand side, drill through the selections Task Scheduler Library / Microsoft- / Windows- / Media Center
  5. In the middle panel, you will see the tasks, Right click on MCUpdate and choose Disable

Cheers

Mike

Re: Change Vista Guide Download Time

Just found this thread, so it looks like there is no point in trying to set it manually to a fixed time, Vista changes it every day to a random time.

Thanks for your help with this by the way, appreciate it.

Cheers

Re: Change Vista Guide Download Time

Yes, the "random time" you mention is mcupdate being run by the task scheduler.

If you use the tool krypto points you to and disable mcupdate (instructions in my post above) it wont be reset.
