Current status of category support (?)

From the couple of hours I've been researching and playing around, it seems like BRP3/Quickguide does not look at the categories.txt file to determine which categories get displayed in the EPG. I know, someone could have told me that straight away....

The category information in the downloaded xml file (in my case the one pulled from OzTivo) is either stored directly in guide.bin (for real-time translating by Vista into its defined categories), or this translating is done at the guide.bin creation stage.

This translating into Vista's categories is broad, and crude. Everything gets called a 'documentary' for example. Sports and News work ok, but Vista's categories aren't exactly my preference.

Is there a current way to change the categories that the Vista EPG insists upon using? I feel it's in the guide.bin however, and I don't think BRP3/Guideguide support it. But maybe they're defined elsewhere?

Re: Current status of category support (?)

I've just found a categories.txt file in Bladerunner's EPGXMLWriterParts directory, it looks close to Vista's categories but some, like "Arts and Music" and "Interests" never match up.
