Re: Sony Bravia Blank screen when inputs change - EDID issue
I've just posted in XPMCE, but I had this issue when trialling W7. Now, I'm having issues after I changed my input type through HDMI on the TV from 'pc mode' to 'pvr stb mode', so that I could change it to 50Hz. I have ATI video card, and have had random black screens when playing a computer game before, so I'm wondering if it's the video card that is causing this problem, maybe can't handle outputing 50Hz???
I want to isolate the problem from being the TV that's all, because if it's the TV then I want to get it fixed before it goes out of warranty (still have a few years left . I've switched back to PC mode at 60Hz to see if I get the black screens anymore...fingers crossed.
Re: Sony Bravia Blank screen when inputs change - EDID issue
I had this issue for a few months with an ATI Board on my 46XBR, I tried everything including the Gefen Solution with no success. I since turfed the ATI board for a NVidia which has been flawless.
I recently built a new HTPC for my parents which I tested on my TV (ATI HD Board) using the latest drivers. Same issue on mine but works perfectly on their Pioneer.
Just get a Nvidia card and the problem is solved.
Re: Sony Bravia Blank screen when inputs change - EDID issue
I'm trying 60Hz not in PC Mode though, and it is quite clear and nice, but the refresh rate makes it look a bit stuttery every now and then. I haven't noticed any black screens yet though, so it seems to indicate that 50Hz refresh rate is the cause???
cheers for your suggestions, I was actually planning to upgrade my mobo, but to one with an onboard ATI HD4200 chipset...
Re: Sony Bravia Blank screen when inputs change - EDID issue
Hi, I'm new to this forum and also to HTPC's but this is my main remaining issue that I want to fix. I have a Sony Bravia XBR and am connecting via HDMI. My other details are in my signature and I have tried using HDMIOn which is ok as long as your not in Media Centre when you change to TV. I'm using the Catalyst CC v10.1 which installs the driver v8.641 and I noticed others have installed 9.x but I can't find it so any advice would be appreciated.

Quite a few agree with me that 9.8 is the only stable driver for their systems. Namely to fix sleep and black screen issues
Uninstall 10.1 then load up 9.8.
I think you can get it here. I cannot confirm due to my company's firewall
If not google it

Hi dwebkombi, I tried uninstalling Catalyst 10.1 and installed Catalyst 9.8 as per your link but no luck so I installed 10.2 and still no luck. Could any of the video driver settings make a difference ?
Thanks
