Setting overscan in Catalyst Control Centre

    Hi.

Upgraded from Vista to 7. All went well, except I now have my picture only filling up about 85% of the screen.

ATI 2600 Pro -> component video into Infocus IN76 720p projector.

I remember having a similar problem when I first installed Vista and I think the solution was to setup overscan in control centre using a sliding bar.

After my Win7 upgrade I have installed the latest version of device drivers and Catalyst Control Centre 9.8 but I just can't see how to set up overscan in this new version of CC. Am I on the right track here to fix my picture so that it fills the screen and has anyone done this in the new version of CC - how is it done ? Thanks for any help !

I had the same problem until I downloaded the Win7 x86 Catalyst control centre for my card. Once this is installed you can then open it up and find the overscan option..

Click the little black arrow to get the menu.

This is where you want to go to configure overscan in catalyst 9.8.

Simbot, did you fix this ?

I had the overscan comp yesterday when I first installed 7 but today it's dumping me back to the Welcome screen also.
    Win 7 HP - CoolerMaster CM-Media 250 case - AMD 4850e - GA-MA78GPM-DS2H uATX - GF8600GT - 2Gb RAM - Compro E900F and DVB-T300 tuners - Sony 40WE5 via DVI to HDMI

    Same problem here.

Just installed Win7 from Vista and have the need to set the overscan as I had with Vista.

There was no option anywhere to adjust it with the default drivers Win7 installed so I thought I would just install the latest Catalyst drivers & CCC and I'd be sorted - WRONG!

Following the guide above is fine but as soon as I click 'Configure', I get dumped back to the welcome screen and NOT on to the screen that should allow me to adjust the overscan.

EDIT: I have un-installed and re-installed Catalyst and now have the overscan adjustment option but whenever I play recorded tv (recorded when it was Vista) I get a thin bright red vertical line in the centre of the screen!

EDIT2: Fixed after a swift Google
It's apparently a default Avivo Video Setting?
Avivo Video>All Settings>Video Demo Mode>Enhancements>Split Screen! Enabled one of the other options and I'm a LOT calmer now....

I moved to Win7 to deal with some dodgy sound issues under Vista and I gained these display issues instead - really starting to hate AMD/ATI now....

Re: Setting overscan in Catalyst Control Centre

After thinking Win 7 would solve my ATI/MCE05 issues I have had to turn to a Nvidia card once again.

Re: Setting overscan in Catalyst Control Centre

    HI all,

I just wanted to let you know that I have been able to fix the issue I had, which is a bit like yours (hainv black borders all around my MCE screen):

I had to go in the registry to: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\Curr entVersion\Media Center\Settings\DisplayService

I checked for all values corresponding to my screen redolution (LogicalHeight, LogicalWidth, PhysicalHeight, PhysicalWidth, Format, Interlaced, RefreshRate), and only one was different : RefreshRate.

My TV was 25Hz (19 in octal to set it in Registry) in CCC, and was 30Hz (1f in octal set in Registry); just settings it back to 25 made the borders disappeared!!

It seems that when all registry settings of MCE are alignedto the one from the machine display config, no adjustment is made by MCE on screen resolution upon starting.
