Cool ATI "atikmdag" driver error FIX

For some of you who I'm sure would have had this error/BSOD "atikmdag", I might have a fix for you.

After searching high end low for days after puchasing my new MB Gigabyte "GA-MA790GP-DS4H " everything looked ok untill I tried to tune the TV, so I tried an recorded TV file with the same problem, Crash, BSOD, Freeze you name it. but was ok playing an .avi file

BSOD pointed to the atikmdag.sys for the stop error, search this error on the net and you will find millions of people with the same problem with BOTH ATI and NVIDIA and has been problem since Vista was released as a Beta.

Now I found this in the this in the Microsft Forums and it WORKED for me

Fix:
1 - Set "ATI EXTERNAL EVENT UTILITY" service to Manual (Admin Tools\Services)

2 - Add the REG_DWORD registry key “TdrDelay” to HKLM\System\CurrentControlSet\Control\GraphicsDriv ers and set the value to 5 for 5-seconds.

Hope this helps at least one person
