Angry CoreAVC - not a good company to deal with

Well this has been a learning experience..

I tried CoreAVC after seeing it recommended by a few people on this forum. Sure enough it allowed my to run 1080 MKV files smoothly using software acceleration. Although I have a GF 8500GT that will not hw decode files if they are in a packager like MKV.

So all was good with the world and I thought I would support the little guys and purchase the pro version of CoreAVC. Went to the web site and purchased. Message to say that I would be sent an email with download link and key. This was on Sunday. Monday no email so open a support ticket. No confirmation that it had been received and still no email with the key. Tuesday get on the forum so see if I can post in the support area. No, support area is locked. Posted in the general area. Still nothing this morning.

So did some digging and found this
http://forum.doom9.org/showthread.ph...hlight=coreavc

So now I am left regretting plonking down the money for this and thinking that I will be starting proceedings to recover that money.

For those thinking of getting CoreAVC please be warned. The software may be good but the company has some serious issues.

Re: CoreAVC - not a good company to deal with

Well I have finaly heard from someone but still no software.

Hello,

Thank you for writing to the CoreCodec Support Group.

Were you able to get your purchase? If it was a paypal purchase it takes several days for the post to clear, especially if you have taken it from your bank account.

Hope that helps and thank you for your support.

Regards,

CoreCodec Support Group

Kind of strange as I have never had to wait for any other software I purchased online. Well I sit here and wait.....

I bought CoreAVC a couple of weeks ago.

Paid via PayPal with credit card and got an instant email with download link and key at the end of the process.

I am still waiting... I think that is the thing. If the process goes ok then you don't need to deal with the people that are supposed to provide support. For your sake I hope that you dont need support at any stage.

I am still blown away take a week later I still do not have the software. My credit card was billed straight away.

Do you even need it? The free Vista Codec Pack only installs the bare minimum codecs needed to play the multitude of files floating around, and plays 1080p/720p .mkv without problems, on my setup anyway. It doesn't even have a player...you can use any suitable.

Re: CoreAVC - not a good company to deal with

I found 1080p to be a little juddery with the ffdshow codecs. CoreAVC did play 1080p stuff more smoothly. Stuff that is not in a mkv files are fine as the video offloads to the video card.
