Dolby Digital on 7,10HD

Howdy
I've noticed while watching Black Hawk Down tonight on TenHD that my Logitech Z5500's are only reporting stereo for the audio (which I have a Dolby PL2 Movie effect applied on). I thought it was supposed to be broadcast in full Dolby Digital?
I have other Dolby Dig stuff (DVD's and AVI's with DD tracks) that the amp reports as Dolby Dig, as well as DTS tracks that are reported correctly also. It's just TV that doesn't seem to be working.

I am using a Leadtek Winfast DTV1000T on Vista MCE, with ffdshow and AC3filter to handle audio. Everything i've tried to get Digital TV to have Digital audio isn't working.
Any ideas?

Re: Dolby Digital on 7,10HD

Hey there I am wondering the same thing. My MCE plays DVD's and AC3 encoded Divx files no problems. The amp says "Dolby Digital" but when viewing the Ten HD all I can get is "Dolby Digital Pro Logic II" - I presume this means its only receiving a stereo signal.

I have checked the setup etc in windows and in media center without any luck.

Please Help us!

Re: Dolby Digital on 7,10HD

Yep, it was broadcast in stereo. The advertisement just before the start of the show claimed better audio and video with the new HD content. How disappointing.

Great link thanks... but highly dissapointing to see only a handful of DD5.1 content, especially movies which you would think all have DD5.1 soundtrack available since most movies released on DVD have one.

Re: Dolby Digital on 7,10HD

There's not much 5.1 stuff based on that link. Only McLeods Daughters is listed - surely that can't be correct??

Re: Dolby Digital on 7,10HD

Tell me about it! its very disappointing! I just spent $2700 on a receiver and speaker package and I'm watching shows with DD 2.0... in prologic! hahaha the networks really need to pull their fingers out and play full DD 5.1 content, if the only way I'm gonna get DD 5.1 is by watching Maclouds Daughters it looks like I'll be leading a 2 channel existance for a while yet!!

Re: Dolby Digital on 7,10HD

Disappointed here as well - is there anyone on these boards "in the industry" who can confirm what's going on and why? I wonder how many people have been sucked in with the promise of higher-quality sound and pictures with the "new" HD broadcasts only to find it's still much of the same old s$%te . . .

Cheers,

B.

Re: Dolby Digital on 7,10HD

The DD5.1 situation isn't great, but it's worse now with a lot of shows off the air. Seven generally broadcast a lot of their primetime HD shows in 5.1. e.g. Heroes and Lost, amongst many others.
