Re: ATI 2400pro/2400XT support & Discussion

Hi Pantonious,

Already tried that, see my previous post in this thread about the failings of the ATI codec.

No ffwd or rrwd on dvr-ms, Video Error when playing DVD.

Re: ATI 2400pro/2400XT support & Discussion

I'll probably wait until they iron out the bugs with the AVIVO software/decoders before i part with my beloved money, for now i might try NVIDIA's PureVideo HD/normal.

Anyone else managed to do some further bug testing?

Re: ATI 2400pro/2400XT support & Discussion

Ok, I thought i should share my codec setup with the 2400xt.

Codecs I tried and issues:

1)Set avivo 7.7 in DECCHECK and VMCD.
Positives : Great SD and HD TV Quality and DVD Quality.
................Native Hardware decoding for all formats.(h.264/VC1/MPG2/WMVHD)
Negatives: No FFWD or RRWD in DVRMS

2)Set MSCODEC in VMCD.
Positives:Great SD and DVD Quality. FFWD and RRWD ability

Negatives: Green Screen on HD Recorded and live TV.

3)Set Cyberlink in DECCHECK and the Cyberlink BR - HD Decoder in VMCD.
Positives: Excellent PQ and Quality on both SD TV and HD TV
...............DVD's look Great
...............FFWD and RRWD Work
...............No Green Screen Issues.
...............Native Hardware decoding for all formats.(h.264/VC1/MPG2/WMVHD)

So at this point with the current state of the Avivo Codec, Cyberlink is the only bug free codec.

When ATI progress down their driver and codec updates track, I would probably prefer the AVIVO codec as the image was nearly flawless on SD & HD TV. DVD's were crispy clear with no PQ issues at all.

Re: ATI 2400pro/2400XT support & Discussion

Howdy,

DECCHECK was the MS one used for XP.

Word of warning: If you don't set Cyberlink in DECCHECK, but set it in VMCD, when you go to High Def TV in Media Center, it will crash out with looping audio, So make sure Cyberlink is set in DECCHECK and VMCD.

I had AVIVO in DECCHECK and CYBERLINK in VCMD and it created all sort of problems.

Re: ATI 2400pro/2400XT support & Discussion

I just bought a HD 2400XT (XpertVision "Sonic") and i'm getting green screen on HDTV channels with the standard microsoft decoder, i couldn't get 7.7 to install the display driver when i downloaded it so now i suppose i just should get the AVIVO 7.7 from their site and install it? I'll do that now.

Where do i get DECCHECK btw? Thanks.

EDIT: I grabbed the AVIVO 7.7 package from their site but no AVIVO or ATI codec appears in the VMCD program, also 7.7 keeps refusing to install the driver so i'm stuck with 7.6. I cant watch HDTV without it.

Y didn't they install? i never had any problems...i would make sure they go on right before loaing AVIVO...

however, AVIVO will cause other problems....namely DVDs not playing and being unable to fastforward/reverse recorded TV...
