Re: Speakers

Now if memory serves me correctly this MoBo has stereo output via the lime 3.5mm line out port, no 5.1 or 7.1 (correct me if I'm wrong here). That is no S/PDIF or the additional 3.5mm black, orange, grey for rear, centre and side.

Based on that you get something like a standard stereo "Y" cable and split the line out for your TV and then amp.

I seem to remeber it has the soundmax HD audio chipset.

OK now this has me confused. Here is the link to the Asus page.

I looked at this board a short while back and discounted it based on the images.

It lists as having 5.1 in the specifications but seems to have no output for it (possibly only HDMI?) if you look at the images on the overview page (if they have the correct board image) What have I missed here?

Clearly my advice above may need review based on this.

From the manual and the images that you refer to;

Light Blue - Bass/Centre
Lime - Front Speaker Out
Pink - Rear Speaker Out

Re: Speakers

Thanks Extreme.

The big "a-ha" moment. I'm used to Asus using the light blue for line in and pink for the microphone. Nothng like standards Should have read the manual - but then I am male.

Re: Speakers

they are...there are many motherboards that have 5.1 sound but only 3 3.5mm connects on the backplate...

when you use 5.1 you can't have a mic or line in as they use the same physical ports as the rear speakers and centre/sub.
