Question People hanging in with onboard Nvidia 6150 solutions???

Hi,

I've been using an Asus M2NPV-VM with its onboard Nvidia 6150 GPU for the past 18mths or so - just wondering:

1) Are people finding this suitable for 720p and 1080i FTA transmissions?

2) What MPEG2 decoder have people found give the best results?

3) Satisfied with results when watching digital video files eg xvid, H264, mkv?

4) What drivers are you finding work best? And also the BIOS settings? Hardware Acceleration on or off? All that TV out ****e in the BIOS etc?

5) Having trouble resisting upgrading?

Part of the problem I think I have is I use component video out into my Sony HD CRT (KVHR32M31) - and have to watch on a bastardised resolution something like 1168x656@60hZ or similar with the Nvidia wizard set to 720p output - as 1080i flickers too much and need to resize desktop as I go to it a bit to load movies and music on.

Considering tacking a cheapish GPU on eg 8500GT or 2600XT.

Welcome any thoughts other 6150 users have.

Cheers, Nick

Re: People hanging in with onboard Nvidia 6150 solutions???

Hi Nikko,
I did not run 6150 but had 6600 for a while. Normally it would run fine with some occasional stutter, which will irritate me and make my life miserable . I was trying to get more RAM, better CPU, better drivers, but at the end I have changed to 1600 Pro and it did fix all my problems, immediately.
For what it worth, if you have better HW, you will have less problems - IMHO.
With current prices on Video cards, you can just try and see how it will go.
