VGA to COMPONENT Cable

Hi i run MCE2005 on a HP notebook approx 1.5 years old still decent pc.. Currently i have been using svideo out with no worries at all.. I have just found a cable on ebay that will convert VGA to Component.. I figure this will give me better clarity on my 68CM CRT tv. Samsung Approx 5 years old. Do these work or do i need a convertor box to do the job?

Cable here.

Re: VGA to COMPONENT Cable

dacord,

Save your money, that cable will not covert the signal, while both vga (which is a form of RGB signal) and component (YPbPr) are analogue signals the type of signal and the content are completely different. I believe that cable is intended as a coverter for some Japanese consumer products that use D terminals for either RGB or Component signals. If you want to go from VGA to Component you will need a video converter. last time I looked they were expensive beasties.

Re: VGA to COMPONENT Cable

dacord,

Just had a proper look at the add, It states its for VGA to RGB conversion, RGB is not Component (YPbPr), so is only good if your CRT will accept RGB input. If it has a scart connector then it is possible that it will, but then that particular cable would be no good what you would need is a VGA to SCART cable.
