Resolution Problems

Hi all - having a bit of an issue getting mce to work on new plasma screen. The card is an ATI 9250 and the plasma is a LG 50PC1D (50 inch).

I cant for the life of me get the desktop or XP mce to fit in the screen nicely. This is probably quite a newbie error but I have never had this issue before on any CRT (3 others) so troubleshooting is getting the better of me.

At the moment I have it set to 1024 x 768 @ 70 Hertz and the image is too big to fit on the screen. I get about 90%. If I go down to 800 x 600 I get about 80% and if I go up I get even less. ARG

Please help

Re: Resolution Problems

It is called overscan, search this forum - is has hundreds articles on your problem.
ATI Catalyst Control Center has "Scaling Options" under DTV(DVI)
How your video card is connected to your panel?

Re: Resolution Problems

Sorry VLAD, was obviously searching under the wrong areas. I am happy to dig a little deeper myself and will look it up. FYI I am connecting via S video

Ok - Im guessing that my problem is related to the fact that I am connecting via S-vdeo. I have just had a flick through all the overscanning posts and they all refer to the DTV preferences. And under "TV properties" you dont get many settings.

So my guess is - I am a dim wit and have to go out and but a DVI - HDMI cable as the first step. Unless there is something else I am missing???

You are missing a lot if you are connected via svideo. Get a cable, don't waste money on expensive, get cheapest.

Any computer shop, or any place where TV's are sold.
