ATI 9600 and 10HD stutter/jitter. Help?

I'm running MCE with an ATI 9600. I was previously using an NVIDA 5200, and all was fine, but changed because I've given the card to somebody else.
My issues is that ONLY 10HD had major stutter (or is it jitter?) - it seems to be skipping say every 2nd frame or so (just a guess).
I tried playing the same show back using Media Center - and there's no stuttering at all?

i'm using the latest catalyst drivers and the NVidia purevideo codec (which I can confirm is running when i'm using Media Player and Media Center).
Any ideas????

10HD in full screen was the only channel my 9600Pro couldn't cope with (back in the day). This was on an old P4 2.8GHz.

I think you might have to get on the codec merry-go-round.
