Minor amp annoyance

Hi All,
Well after wrestling with Vista for two days I have given up despite a marathon session on getting everything working like I want, but thats another story.
I now have MCE2005 installed and am very happy with everything, still a little more tweaking to do but overall just easier than Vista to handle the audio oddities.
I am outputting coax digital spdif from an Audigy value card (the source of all my Vista audio woes I'm sure) and sound works great through ffdshow with the amp (a Kenwood DTS/Dolby job from a few years back).
The only thing is that when the stream is switched from say a stereo PCM to a DTS or DD stream the amp detects it and makes quite a loud click as it switches itself over the correct output mode. When this happens at the beginning of playing a movie its not so bad, but it also does it when the stream stops (ie if I pause a movie, change channel etc.)
Anyone aware of any tweaks to AC3 filter/ffdshow audio/sound drivers that may prevent this and make the amp stay in a particular mode when the stream is interrupted?
Thanks
Poppy
