Loosing my HDMI picture after switching TV off for a while

Hi,

I have recently moved from using s-video to hdmi (through a graphics card upgrade), to send a picture to my LCD TV. I now find that when I leave the TV switched off for a while, then turn it back on, I can no longer view MCE through it.

I was under the belief that when the PC when into power save mode, it lost the settings saying it was connected to a TV, so when it powered back, it had nowhere to direct the display.

So I removed all power saving settings. However, everyday when I get home I have to hard reset my PC as there's no monitor.

Is there a simple way to get round this? without buying that small gizmo which remembers your settings and continually transmits them to the PC?

Your collective wisdom is welcome
