run devices through media centre to display on monitor

Hello all.

Im quite new to this site so sorry if this question has been asked a million times already =/, feel free to link me to another thread etc.

i have a media center pc and would like to know if theres a way to properly run things through the composite ports of the computer.

for example i have hooked up my xbox to the computer and have only managed to use vlc player and its "capture device" setting which gives me no audio. mind the video that was being displayed was horrible aswell.

however i tried going through media center and scanned for avalable channels and it comes up pretty good with audio, but its a small box and after i am asked if a set top box is connected etc and in the end i am unable to view it on my monitor.

any help would be quite helpfull.
