VGA vs S-Video

Hey guys,

Great forum

I'm trying to connect my "test" XP MCE pc to a lcd projector.
The PC has a ATI 9550 card with svideo, vga and DVI outputs while the projector has vga, svideo and composite inputs.

What would give a better picture VGA or S-video ?
Bearing in mind it will be about a 10m cable run.

Thanks,
Ro

Re: VGA vs S-Video

Find out the native resolution of your lcd PJ then set the desktop to that resolution when viewing windows on your PJ screen.
This is called 1:1 pixel mapping.
If you can afford a dvi/hdmi cable then use that as it means you will not be converting from digital to analog and back to digital again.
In my case I replaced my VGA connection to a DVI/HDMI cable and found the picture was somewhat better more so the fact that I could now select 50hz via DVI whereas when using VGA I could only select 60hz.
50hz has meant less motion judder in panning camera scenes. Projectors bring out the image floors as screen size is often larger.

Sorry I just reread your opening post, your PJ doesnt have a digital input. Bugger!
