Cyberlink and Nero too cumbersome to use

I am looking for the best/easiest solution to edit and burn my TV shows on my MCE.
I have used both PowerProducer and Nero Vision and have found both to be quite cumbersome to use on my 32" LCD, with my wireless, track ball built-in, media keyboard.
The buttons are too small, the fonts are too small, the window size is fixed and trying to scroll through the timeline and cutting/trimming the video file while sitting on the sofa and balancing the keyboard on my lap makes me want to transfer the file to my desktop PC and do the editing there.

Anyone got any suggestions for a MCE FRIENDLY software that'll allow me to edit the video, create a DVD menu and burn to disc?

Steve

Re: Cyberlink and Nero too cumbersome to use

Hi Chemoul,
Unfortunately there isn't much in the way of integrated software that will be useful with a remote control.

Use TV Toolbox to edit the adds manually. http://www.mcedev.com/Product.aspx?i...c-d7bac9a8b3b0

OR lifextender to cut all the adds out automatically. http://www.lifextender.com/

Once you chop out the unwanted stuff, you can burn a DVD with just the Media Center "Burn to DVD option".
Or use the Nero or Cyberlink DVD burn options.

The best allround software to use is http://www.videoredo.com/en/index.htm
This is not an MCE plugin though.

Re: Cyberlink and Nero too cumbersome to use

Hello Chemoul,

I don't know necessarily what is best to use on your big screen because I do all of my editing and burning at my desk and then play the discs later on one of our DVD's connected to a proper TV.

However, Video Redo with the TV suite is very easy to use and manipulation of the timeline is extremely easy. You can use it to burn the DVD directly, or you can burn the edited Video through MCE.

Arc soft also has software that is formatted for control on the TV, I have seen the interface as one of my friends has just bought one of those $59.00 USB tuners from ALDI.
The tuner works well but the ARCsoft program it comes with does not seem to include the burning package.

It must be available though because the documentation with it on the installation disc talks about it. There is an editing function.

Hope this helps. I would be interested to hear how you go.

King Hilary.

Thank you for your replies guys.
I've used Videoredo before and might give it a try again, and also see whether I can find this Arcsoft program.

Re: Cyberlink and Nero too cumbersome to use

Looking on the internet, I see the ArcSoft products under the TotaMedia label that probably are aimed at the kind of work you want to do using your Television as the interface. I don't have any experience with it but maybe someone else on the forum has used this type of product. I have only used the lite Arcsoft type software that came bundled with my DVD Burner / vidoeo capture device. This was designed for editing home movies. It did work, but now I find VideoRedo so much easier that I never edit with the arcsoft programs. I also tend to use my lite version of "Sonic MyDVD plus" to capture home Video as it seems to work every time and has been no drama to set up.

Cheers,

King Hilary.
