How to split long recording to fit on DVD format

I have done a search on this site for this but was unable to find a related thread?

I have a long recording from tv (about 8 hours) and I would like to put the last couple of hours of this on to a DVD so it can be played on a regular DVD player.

How can I split my recording so that I can fit the last couple of hours onto a DVD?

Re: How to split long recording to fit on DVD format

There are some free tools (DVRMSToolbox I think) that will split the file, but VideoReDo is probably the easiest. The new beta even does the DVD creation part.

Another way...

if your recording is in DVR-MS format - DVREdit [Found on this site] can chop it into as many segments as you desire - this can then be saved back in the original DVR-MS format.

If using vista you can then import the DVR-MS recording into Windows DVD Maker (i think that's the name) and with a few clicks here and there have a DVD created.

One downside to using Windows DVD Maker is it takes a long time to create the DVD.
