"Any Video Converter" - What a Beauty !

OK.....I couldnt resist Bella's 'what a beauty'

nevertheless, for those looking for a FREE and working conversion proggie, I recommend anyDVD. It wont do DVRMS directly, but great for doing conversions of the mpegs youve created/trimmed in video redo, etc

It is of course based on mplayer/mencoder and unlike SUPER, works a treat, even on my fussy x64 rig

Most relevant settings are adjustable - codecs, bitrates etc. Its very easy and inutitive to use.

have a go (FREE VERSION works great, no watermarks etc, but doesnt have many preloaded profiles as the paid version)

http://www.any-video-converter.com/download/

Now converting whole slabs of stuff into H264(Using x264)

Use it and find out

I use it as my main x264 converter now in Vista x64. Make sure you pick framesize correctly to give you the correct aspect ratio. Even with 4:3 shows, using a 16:9 output ratio is required if you have a 16:9 display. I use 854 x 480, witha bitrate of 768, as that gives me the satisfactory filesizes and quality for my needs. a 1.8GB half hour shos gets compressed to 10% of that, and still looks great
