changing titles

I,m new to media center and have recorded a few tv shows and want to change the title from manual recording to name of show.Looked in help which said to go to add recording ,channel and time, change title but I have no channel and time to click on. Can I only put title on before its recorded? Thanks Jon

Re: changing titles

Hi Jonno,

I think that you should change the title before the show records in most cases.

However, I do not see why you can't just go into your recorded TV folder and change the file name. This should change the title. Just keep the ms-dvr extension. I can't remember if I have actually tried this. Now I change the title at the time I take the commercials out and convert to some other format, if I have forgotten to do it earlier.

Let us know how you get on.

King Hilary.

Re: changing titles

This is what i do, (i'm running vista) i just use vista to change what i want. then i created two .bat files.

the first called 'rename dvr-ms to xx.bat' and in it has the command 'ren *.dvr-ms *.xx'

the second called 'rename xx to dvr-ms.bat' and in it has the command 'ren *.xx *.dvr-ms'

Note the actual commands dont have the (')'s.

And to get MC to reload the data. run the first .bat 'rename dvr-ms to xx.bat' then load up media centre go to recorded tv and wait a few minutes until it refreshes and it is no longer showing.
Then close down MC and run the second .bat 'rename xx to dvr-ms.bat'
Then start up media centre again and it should load the new data.
