Playback of analogue recordings

When I play back my analogue TV recordings, the PAL teletext subtitles are missing, unless I play them from Mediacenter itself.
Does anyone have a solution for this ?
I 'd like to play back those recordings on a different PC, but this is a non-mce XP machine, and Windows Media Player does not show them.
I was unable to get them to show up on VLC or Media Player Classic.
Even tried GBPVR, Mediaportal, Geexbox, but still no subtitles

Anyone else have a solution for this ?
Or is there a way to install a complete XPMCE on a memory stick ?
