Crunchie problems

Hi,

Just been trying to use Crunchie to convert some MS-DVR recordings made on a new Vista laptop.

Followed the threads in regards to installing DVRMSToolbox, Crunchie 1.1 and setting it up. I had a number of problems due to permissions in Vista which I seemed to have resolved, but run into another set of problems. I'll post the logs below:

crunchie.ini settings
Code:
AGE==0
AR169==640:368
AR43==640:480
AVI==D:\Output\
BITRATE==2500

DOUBLE_DEINT==1
DVRMSTOMPEG==C:\Program Files\DVRMSToolbox

RENAME_DVRMS==1
TVMODES==PAL,NTSC
TVSYSTEM==PAL
TWOPASS==1
USE_SUBFOLDERS==0
Below is an example from the Crunchie log when I tried to run it
Code:
Mon Apr  9 22:34:57 2007 : (    STARTUP) C:\Program Files\Arksoft\Arksofts Crunchie\crunchie.exe Started.
Mon Apr  9 22:34:57 2007 : (    CLEANUP) Cleaning temporary mpeg folder.

Mon Apr  9 22:34:57 2007 : ( CONVERSION) Processing Manual_Recording_ABC2_28_03_2007_19_55_09.dvr-ms.
Mon Apr  9 22:34:57 2007 : ( DVRMS->MPG) Converting Manual_Recording_ABC2_28_03_2007_19_55_09.dvr-ms to mpeg.

Mon Apr  9 22:34:59 2007 : (   FINISHED) C:\Program Files\Arksoft\Arksofts Crunchie\crunchie.exe Completed.
And following a previous thread, I tried to manually run DVRMSToolboxGUI and this is what I got:
Code:

Any hints? I would love to get this program running but have had no luck so far!
Many thanks in advance...

Re: Crunchie problems

Have a read of this thread (where I reported the same problem on the DVSMSToolbox forums):

I also ran into this problem in Vista, but found a different solution. It seems that when UAC is turned on, regsvr32 will fail with some strange error. Here's how I fixed the problem:

1. Turn off UAC
1. Run (Win+R): msconfig
2. Select the "Tools" tab
3. Select the "Disable UAC" tool
4. Click the "Launch" button
5. Close the command window that pops up
6. Click the "OK" button to close the "System Configuration" window.
7. Reboot
2. Register the failing ax files
1. Run (Win+R): regsvr32 c:\windows\system32\mpgmux.ax
2. Run (Win+R): regsvr32 c:\windows\system32\cldump.ax

You should be able to run DVRMSToolbox now. I haven't tried running it with UAC turned back on, but it's probably a good idea to not leave UAC off if you can help it.

Woohoo, it's now working on vista. I can convert files to mpeg easily

This is what to do:

1. Open a command prompt as administrator (as described in the previous post)

2. Write: regsvr32 c:\windows\system32\mpgmux.ax And press enter
- A dialog box will open telling you it worked.

3. Write: regsvr32 c:\windows\system32\cldump.ax And press enter
- A dialog box will open and tell you it worked

4. It's all done, you can now convert to mpeg....

Re: Crunchie problems

This might also help others who are seeing the "Unable to stat" error from Crunchie especially with newer versions of DVRMSToolbox.

This problem is a result of DVRMSToolbox deprecating the DVRMS2MPEG tool in favour of FFMPEG. There's a real easy fix though:
  • Start DVRMSTooboxSettings
  • Select the Profile Convert DVR-MS file to MPEG
  • Click Edit Profile
  • Change the name from dvrmstompg to dvrmstompg_old
  • Click Save to close the edit profile dialog
  • Now select the Profile DVR-MS to MPEG with Ffmpeg
  • Click Edit Profile
  • Change the name from ffmpeg to dvrmstompg
  • Click Save to close the edit profile dialog
  • Click Save to save and close DVRMSToolboxSettings

Worked for me!
