Question Is Crunchie still alive?

Hey guys

I'm using Crunchie 1.1 with only one small issue (more on this below) - apart from that it is an awesome program.

Is the application still being developed - I noticed that 1.1 was quite old. Is Arkay still around on this forum?

While I'm here, I though I'd ask about a small issue I'm having with Crunchie. I'm currently using it to crunch TV recorded through Mediaportal. MP, however, does not pad the time stamp in the recorded TV file name with zeroes, whcih means Crunchie does not recognise the file name and does not organise my TV.

Is there any way I can modify the file name format that Crunchie expects? I asked on the MP forums about changing the file naming format but could not get a satisfactory response.

Can anyone please please help?!

Thanks!

Yes, it's alive. You should probably post on this forum:

Arkay is currently working with a couple of guys who are implementing DVRMS support natively in mplayer/mencoder/ffmpeg with an eye to releasing a new version with mencoder that should be able to work pretty effectively without the need for DVRMSToolbox..

Re: Is Crunchie still alive?

Hehe.. Yes. v1.1 is old but unlike many windows programs I don't need to keep releasing new versions to make more money when the old version still works fine

As for the naming convention stuff in MP I'm not sure what you can do. If MP will let you change the name that it saves files to then all you need to do is make MP save the files using the standard media center naming conventions.

I don't have an example with me at the moment but it shouldn't be too hard to find.

Cheers,

Arkay.

Thumbs up Re: Is Crunchie still alive?

Thanks guys

I have tried to get the MP guys to help me with the filenames - but the time format is hard coded and it won't be possible to change it for a while. I guess I'll just have to keep renaming manually for a while.

Alternatively, I'm trying to find a command-line renaming utility / script that uses logic conditions to determine whether there are zeroes present in certain parts of the filename and if they are not, it will add them & rename the file. Haven't found anything yet though!

Arkay - thanks for an awesome app, it is so simple and easy to use and does its job perfectly each time. It is an absolute must for HTPC users who don't want their Simpsons episodes taking up 2gb in a dvr-ms format.

Thanks!

Re: Is Crunchie still alive?

You're welcome

I actually wanted to write a filename parser for Crunchie to allow it to have renaming capabilities as specified by the user. Maybe one day I'll get around to it

Cheers,

Arkay.
