Re: Hauppauge HVR-2200 Gold Coast RESOLVED

Hi Bushwalker,

Sorry to hear about your support confusion - I think there must have been a mis-communication there somewhere.

We have thoroughly tested the Microsoft upgrade for VMC and there are definitely no issues with the HVR-2200. We still get all services including those you mention after installing the update.

The only conclusion can be that the update is interfering with your setup in some way that is unique. Note that Windows 7 and VMC use completely different methods to determine whether a service is of sufficient quality to be "valid". When you scan for services in VMC, although services might be locked in the scanning process you never know this as they are not listed if their cummulative bit error rate is too high. If yuo have some services that are marginal they might always scan in Windows 7 but only sometimes in VMC. The best way to check this is remove any upstream splitters you have and feed the signal direct to the card. Perform at least 3 Scan Channel/Delete Channel sequences and see what you get on average.

Regs

Re: Hauppauge HVR-2200 Gold Coast RESOLVED

I have a stuttering problem with the HVR-2200......would it be worth me installing this driver/patch or is it completely unrelated?

I currently have this installed: Driver Release 7.6.1.27076 (3/17/09)

THanks......

Bonso,

Somebody correct me if I'm wrong but I believe 27076 is the latest driver for Australia. There is a later driver which comes up via windows update (27086 from memory) but this isn't supported by Newmagic/Hauppauge for Australia.

I think you'd be better off looking at signal and/or video card as possible culprits for the stuttering.

John.

Iam getting random shuttering and pixelation during live TV. Using the drivers from Windows update.

would it be worth uninstalling the drivers and installing the ones from new magic? (7.6.1.27076)

Iam in Melbourne 10min away from the airport

cheers

Re: Hauppauge HVR-2200 Gold Coast RESOLVED

Hi all,

I've been directed here by Hauppage Support (good recommendation!) because of tuner difficulties with the HVR-1200 in my Dell PC. Have applied the fixes to no avail.

Briefly - in Canberra, WMC detects all services but will not tune any ABC services - analogue or digital - just reports "No Signal" when you try to watch. The panel displays the name eg ABC HD, but no signal message and no picture.

Any other ideas?

Re: Hauppauge HVR-2200 Gold Coast RESOLVED

The reg tweak in this thread fixed my issue.

Thanks to NewMagic (Mark) and those that contributed to nutting out this issue.

A couple of variations worth noting:

1) I'm 8km north of Melbourne CBD - hardly regional Australia
2) I'm running Windows 7
3) I had issues scanning "Prime" channels (9 Digital, Nine HD and Go!) and all SBS channels in MediaPortal 1.1 on a newly built HTPC. They scanned fine in WinTV 7.

I used ScanChannelsBDA to confirm that the problem channels were offset (eg 9 was on 191625 i believe), and that the signal and quality were strong.

After a lot of stumbling around the net and colourful language I happened upon this thread, tried Mark's reg patch (with the latest drivers mind you), and hey presto, all seems now to be working well (touch wood).

Anyway, thought I'd just note my experience for anyone else that has spent ages stumbling around looking for a solution to this.

Now, to get my EPG sorted out...
