Schedule Turn-On Tuners?

Hi!

I am interested in a Tuner that can turn the PC on and off based on when you want to record programs. Do most cards do this and just not advertise it or do I need to specifically look out for that feature? Im mainly interested in Digital Now cards as they seem cheap but high quality, so any help with their cards would be much appreciated!

Cheers,

Fil

Yep, as the other poster indicates, most people use S3 sleep instead of turning their PCs off. This way the PC will wake from sleep to do a recording, and then should go back to sleep afterwards.

Some cards do allow you to turn your PC back on from a full off. I know a lot of the Compro Videomate cards do. However, from memory you need to use their software to use this feature.

Re: Schedule Turn-On Tuners?

I use compro e900f and this shut down and turn on are working.

WHen you shcedule you have an option to keep it on, sleep, shut down etc and it will give you 20sec to cancel shut down in case you are still using the pc.

I use the software provided to schedule though.

I check with digital now before purchasing my compro but they said it cannot do shut down, only sleep or hybernate, this is the reason I bought compro instead.

Re: Schedule Turn-On Tuners?

Thanks for the replies!

So VMC has the ability to pull the PC from sleep then re-sleep it after it finishes recording?

Cheers

Yup thats right, however sometimes the S3 sleep state doesnt work the way it should without an extra helping hand. If you use the MCE Standby Tool (MST) you can configure it to ensure that Vista is doing what it should be.

MST can be found here: http://slicksolutions.eu/

Hope this helps.
